Friday February 16, 2007 I got to ride Vail with more than two feet of snow on the ground, with some great people. My buddy and skateboard programs partner Angus Morrison came over Vail Pass with me to ride. We just made it over the pass before they closed it for the day. Lucky us! Then, we walked up right behind Charlie Clarke (AASI-RM Examiner) and Matt Joswick (Josey), a Full Cert Instructor at Vail, in the gondola line at 8:30 in the morning. Instant tour guides for the day! Check out Josey's site here at joseyrides.com
What luck! Now we had a tour guide for the day, during which the wind was blowing so hard, half the lifts were closed! Charlie and Matt did an excellent job of finding great snow, awesome trees, cliff drops, and powder for us to ride on the front side of Vail. (All the back bowls were closed due to high wind.)
Check out the video of Charlie's cliff drop by the top of Northwoods, Chair 11. Impressive - he dropped right between the two trees to the deep powder landing. He went far! Here's the media:

What an unforgettable powder day, and a sweet picnic lunch in the trees.
Keep Riding & see you on the slopes,
