Still Waiting

I'm getting antsy. Just a week before Thanksgiving Steamboat announced that it was delaying opening day from November 21 to the 30th. Not only hadn't we received any early season snow, but the temps were too warm for making any either. Turns out, this was a blessing in disguise. It allowed the slope maintenance crews to put the finishing touches on the base area re-grade. I'm really excited for a completely new teaching area: a new magic carpet, an extended and even Preview, and the Christie Peak Express which, from the mid-station, gives us access to three different pitches for learning.

Now that some snow has fallen and it's gotten much colder, the mountain is calling. Let's be real here: Steamboat is not even close to 100% open terrain. But still, it will be great to ride my home mountain...and snow showers are forecast for this week. Once I get up there, I'll start taking some pictures so you can really see what it's like.
