An Early Start for the 2009/10 Season

Two of the Colorado Resorts have been open for a week now, earliest start in 40 years!    In the east, Pennsylvania has had up to 4 inches of snow in some parts of the state.    Washington, Montana, and North Dakota have all had snow.    Could this be a super snow season coming our way?

The summer in Summit County was cooler and wetter than normal.    If this trend continues, skiing and riding could be excellent this year.   What ever happens, there will be enough snow to enjoy the outdoors and to enjoy the effects of gravity on your body at a slope near you.    To make the most of your opportunities, it is important to get in tip top shape for the season.   This fall time, the "shoulder season", is the time to get motivated to whip those legs into shape for the snow sports activities ahead.

So, I am off to the gym....working the legs, arms, and core muscles, and thinking about those long runs in Summit County.... and trying to set the pace for my skiing friends on the slope.    In future posts, I will suggest some exercises to work on to ready your legs for those long steep descents.     See you later,

LZ
