6/15/07 – Great Hike

Summer is finally showing. I traded in the morning and place some good trades yesterday. Including closing out a 6 month trade that netted 250% in 7 months on PrePaid Legal (PPD). I found out about the closing of the trade on my phone while I when on a great hike in Frisco.
I walked about 8 miles in total. The mud season is over, and the Aspen have grown their leaves. It was beautiful. Also, most of the hike followed the river (which was raging).
However, the joy of this hike came from an unexpected source, my iPod. I was listening to Don Miguel Ruiz’s The Voice of Knowledge absolutely fascinating. I had listened to it before while driving, but it didn’t have the same impact as it did yesterday.
One concept that became more clear to me was this:
The power of words. Words can be symbols, capable of creation. I say the word, “Horse”, what comes to mind? Many images, perhaps smells, sounds, and feelings. And it comes from YOUR experiences. Someone else reading this may have very different reactions. And it is all from the power of a word.
What about:
Meadow?
Field and Stream?
Money?
Family?
Job?
Business?
Your Life?
Your reaction is not necessarily the “Truth” about the subject, but rather it is what we “Know” about our experiences which make them real to us. Which beliefs empower you? Which hold you back? Does the belief serve your purpose? If not, create associations that do serve your desired purpose.

Which one do you feel best about? Focus on that!

It was a very empowering walk.
