The snow is awesome. This week’s weather has been incredible too. 34* @ 8:30. I took out a clinic yesterday. I skied with Pete Streff, John Sharp, and Mike Howell. We skied the front of P8, 6-chair (great snow), E-lift (mineshaft is excellent), front of P9, and then Charlie’s Trees on “the southside” of P10. We stayed away from Imperial chair though. It looks pretty rocky on the way down. Although, there were a number of people hiking to the summit and catching some Powder turns from the top.
Coverage was good, there were no suprises. On extreme south facing slopes there was some firm snow underneath, but nothing that a good edge couldn’t handle easily. We are supposed to get a good dumping of snow Sunday and Monday. That will be well needed as we are coming upon two busy weeks in the mountains.
On Monday I will be skiing in Vail with Alex Greer. I will have plenty of picts from the moma ship of Vail Resorts. And an article about Alex’s skiing history. You will enjoy it.
Other than parking in Breck (read my rant section), Breck is an incredible mountain. Vail has done alot of things right over the year. (minimize your exposure to the base of P8 this year though. If you are parking in town, ski down the 4 o’clock skiway, rather than wait for end of the day lines to download at the gondola.
