The new storm has hit. Yippie. Those in Denver are going crazy again, you’d think it was Hot Lava not snow. Come on people, relax. Your not going to work tomorrow. You have a long weekend, rejoice!

What a great day. It is always pleasurable when you get to spend a day on snow with a really nice person. Today was that day. Allison W. was that person today. A great attitude to be sure, but wow did improvement occur.

During the course of the day, about 5″ of snow fell. A few inches more by 8pm.

Today’s fun on snow. We started off on a few cruisers on P7. Wirepatch and Lincoln Meadows were untouched. Allison and I worked on smoothing out the turns by “rolling” across the bottom of our feet. Smooth like a metronome, not like an on off switch.
We then skied a few runs on P8, and then over to peerless on P9. We added a peddling motion. Long leg/short leg. Continual motion. Because if you stop swimming in a pool, you sink. Well, in skiing it is the same idea. If you stop moving, you take a rough ride.
After a bit of time Allison really started flowing. I was so proud of her.
We then ate lunch at Spencer’s at Beaver Run. I say this because it is the best place to eat on the mountain.
After which we went up to ski, and started to refine the constant skiing motion. The breakthrough moments came toward the end of our day, back on P7. Allison skied Pioneer bumps well. Instead of dragging the uphill hand behind her. She smoothed it out, gracefully one turn to the other. And on the groomed runs she was CARVING. AWESOME.

It is such a pleasure to watch a skier breakthrough barriers in their skiing. Allison broke through a number of them. I really felt fortunate to watch and be part of the improvement.
Allison you ROCK!
Power vs. Force.
to your sliding success,
Jon
