Getting my mind ready and reasoning right. 5-28-07

Now that it has been a month since I left the snow for the 06-07 season. I am getting ready to prepare for April’s PSIA national Team Selections in April.
I have been thinking about it ever since, I saw the Warren Miller video, Learn to Ski Better, 1984. Yes, Merriam, the “Well developed Pole Plant”. Haha! At that time, the National Team were an elusive bunch. Since then, I have found the one’s I have skied with to be wonderful people/skiers/rider who have a dedication to learning and teaching.
I had always thought, and still do, What can I contribute to the sport and membership? What would give me a reason to want to take on the task of a 4 year or perhaps 8 yr, project of a National team spot. Which can have a global influence, to the future of instruction in the alpine snow sports. I think I finally have a mesh.

A few years back, I realized my mission in life is to “Help people play the music that is contained in their souls”. That gets me as excited as anything there is in life. It might sound hoakie to some, but that doesn’t matter to me. Let them find their own mission. I have been criticized for many things in my life. And I have come to understand that there was never a statue built for a critic. I am looking for the people who are ready to grow, improve, and realized their potential. I know that their are many of you out there.
I also realized that this MySnowPro blog has allowed me to reach more people than I thought possible. I figured having 100,000 hits of my site for the season would have been outstanding. I have seen more than 5 times that many in 5 months. Now that is potential impact. Yes, now I do believe I have something to contribute to the alpine snow instruction world. I am excited at the prospect of having 1000’s of instructors with their MSP pages, sharing instruction, passion, and relationships. I am excited in seeing a stronger bond with students, instructors, and resorts.
The future has never been brighter for learning.
I have some work to do now. But my work is play. I am not looking at the time clock, rather I am looking at the calendar, and my milestones to achieve my initial goal of the PSIA National Team. Regardless of the National Team outcome, I will learn much and become better in the process, and I will influence lives to achieve more in their lives.
Stay tuned to this category of my blog. I will highlight the process.
To your success,
Jon Lawson

  1. Good for you. Good luck with that.
I still need to get up to Breck and let you fix all the bad habits that I have. (on skis that is)
Pray for snow. It seems way too far away.
