Today is starting off cold. 0 at my home. -4 on the hill. This morning I will be shooting video for the website with Dirk Muller. Then I am leading a Big Mountain clinic for the ski school. I should have a some good photos and video in the upcoming days.
Here are a few photos of the morning.
stay tuned,
Jon
Wow, was it a great day of skiing. Flat out cold to be sure, but the snow was great. Pillowy-velvet all over the upper mountain. Highlights today included, Whale’s tale, Magic Carpet, and the windows. Matt Belville and Franz were our leaders today. And at Breckenridge, they are great leaders to have.

Just another lift ride in Paradise, looking back to P9
Neoprene face masks. Gators. Fabric head condoms (with eye slits so you can see). Glove liners. Hot Chillies. Glove and boot warmers.
I actually prefer moderately cold weather because as long as you have good gear for it, it is more comfortable and easier to get the right base layer combinations for cold weather to stay warm than to spend all day sweating when it is in the 30’s and 40’s. Moderately meaning between 0-20 degrees. Any colder and it is just miserable. Warmer and you sweat. But all of that depends on the wind.
Glad that the day turned out well. I am battling a crazy sinus infection that has probably cost me half a dozen ski days so far this year. I finally went in and hopefully will be back healthy by next weekend. The changes in elevation from 1,000 ft to 10,000 feet when your sinuses can’t stabilize ain’t fun.
