Early am Report:
February started off with some very cold days. Thursday, Rick, Macke, and I decided to ski at 12 instead of 9. The am temps were -12* with some wind. Yesterday, most of the Breckenridge lifts (including Gondola) were down by 11. We made the most of the lesson day by holding an indoor clinic for the Babes on bumps ladies who decided to be there. We reviewed some common faults and fixes.
Today started out “warmer”. It is +12* at 6:45am on Sat Feb 3. The driving conditions are very difficult. The wind is blowing very hard. Here is the forcast: It was snowing all day and night! Horray!
SUNDAY FOR THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO.
A BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM MST SUNDAY.
WEST TO NORTHWEST WINDS AT SUSTAINED SPEEDS OF 20 TO 40 MPH WITH
GUSTS AS HIGH AS 70 MPH WILL CAUSE EXTENSIVE BLOWING AND DRIFTING
SNOW PRODUCING HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. MOUNTAIN TRAVELERS
SHOULD ANTICIPATE STRONG AND GUSTY WINDS WHICH MAY PRODUCE WHITE-
OUT CONDITIONS AT TIMES. THE BLOWING SNOW ALSO WILL CREATE ICY
AND SNOW PACKED ROAD SURFACES. ALL DRIVERS ARE URGED TO EXERCISE
CAUTION. NEW SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE EXPECTED
BY THIS AFTERNOON.
A BLOWING SNOW ADVISORY MEANS THAT WINDS AND BLOWING AND DRIFTING
SNOW WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES SUFFICIENTLY TO MAKE TRAVEL
DIFFICULT.
I will give you the day report this evening.
PM report:
the wind is blowing. HARD. lots of chairlift closures. I took the day off. Nursing a sore throat. Probably not the best to go out ski and teach in this weather while feeling like this.
That said, I am still waiting for my Firewire from Amazon. I want to post some video. I also have a few ideas for some new teaching vid’s. The Triangle, zones of fear and comfort, and Power vs. Force.
