Powder day! Finally. It was a very fun day on the hill. At 8am the temp was 6*. That was a welcome change. Temps stayed in the 20’s throughout the day. The north facing slopes stayed especially good.

I had the good fortune of skiing with the a number of the babes again today. Even though the “official” babes on bumps season has concluded, these ladies want to keep on learning and having fun on the hill. And we did.
I shared individual feedback to each of our 8 ladies throughout the day. We blended Tactics, Technique, Mind, and Body to contribute to each persons skiing. Specifically, when skiing in powder, momentum is your friend.

On some mornings you just know it is going to be a great day!

Aim for the powder pillows. Don’t ski on the skied off parts of the run (don’t ski someone else’s mistake).
Start your turns in balance! The queue – “Outside hip socket over (rather than behind) the outside foot”
Let yourself travel 5 feet down the fall line further than you think you should.

We knew where to find the good stuff. Enjoy the photo album.

We looked to Peak 5 where a number of skiers had hiked for fresh turns. One of the tracks traveled over a cornice. We could spot one turn, and then about a 100 foot straight run with avalanche debris running over the straight run. Then the turns resumed.

I have never been in an avalanche, but if I was what would my first thought be?
“Well, these pants are ruined”

A sad piece of news for us today. While skiing down towards lunch, one of our star skiers, Pam, was involved in a collision. She was injured and had to be taken down the the Breckenridge Medical Center where the doctors were caring for her. We wish you quick healing Pam! I love your skiing energy… Pure fun and really solid skills.

Enjoy the video

After lunch we headed up Imperial Bowl, where we skied the best snow on the mountain. George’s Thumb was the ticket. We the skied the Zipper on P7. That was a ball too.
Thanks again for all of the fun. And Lynn S. your a goddess. All the babes are so appreciative for what you do! Thank you for putting the skiers together for today.

  1. Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for all the great videos that you took of us – it helps to see where we need to work on our skills. It was a GREAT BABES season – thank you, thank you.
You metioned that maybe we would send flowers to Pam. I would be happy to do this if you have not done so already.
    See you on the slopes,
    Jo Ann Hess
